Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi discusses energy grid support and Ukraine's recovery with Speaker of Japan's Parliament
Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhii Koretskyi met in Kyiv with Eisuke Mori, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan.
Sergii Koretskyi thanked Japan and the Japanese people for their solidarity and continued support for Ukraine.
"Japan stands as one of our closest friends and partners. Special thanks went to Mr. Mori, who has spent many years personally advancing the Ukraine-Japan partnership," noted Sergii Koretskyi.
Since the start of Russia’s full‑scale invasion, financial support for Ukraine’s budget has exceeded USD 20 billion.
The parties focused on assistance for Ukraine’s energy system. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan and JICA for the equipment already delivered.
"It is essential to accelerate the supply of power transformers that frontline regions will need this winter," emphasised Sergii Koretskyi.
The two sides also discussed ways to get Japanese businesses more involved in Ukraine's recovery, particularly in energy and infrastructure. The Ukrainian Government is ready to create the conditions needed to bring joint projects to life.
"We also look to partnership in developing an insurance mechanism for businesses in Ukraine, operating under constant Russian attacks. I thank Japan for its friendship, principled stance, and continued readiness to stand alongside Ukraine," concluded the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
