On the 85th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy, the President of Ukraine, Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi, members of the Government and foreign guests honored the memory of the victims of the Nazi mass shootings. Member of the Knesset of Israel Zeev Elkin and Federal Minister of Germany Karin Prien also took part in the event.

Babyn Yar became the site of one of the largest Nazi crimes in Europe. In just two days in September 1941, the Nazis shot almost 34,000 Jews here, all but annihilating Kyiv's Jewish community. In total, more than 100,000 people were killed by the Nazis at Babyn Yar during the occupation.

Babyn Yar will forever remain a place of remembrance of the Holocaust tragedy and of the terrible consequences of hatred, terror and indifference to crimes against humanity.
"Today, when Russia kills Ukrainians every day and carries out terror, the world has no right to forget this lesson. Evil cannot be ignored. Aggression cannot be left unanswered. Human life must be protected," said Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi.

Honor and remembrance to the victims of Babyn Yar.
