    Background

Ukraine joined the Safe Schools Declaration in November 2019 and became the 100th country to support the provisions of this document.

The signatory countries of the Declaration are both states where there are no military conflicts and those where there is armed aggression.

The Declaration contains a number of commitments to prevent and respond to attacks and the use of educational institutions for military purposes during armed conflict. Approaches to the implementation of the document have already been developed and are being successfully implemented in the countries that joined the Declaration earlier.

It should be mentioned that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the Agreement between Ukraine, the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community.
