On October 4, a working meeting was held with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Chairman of the Board of JSC CB PrivatBank Petro Krumhanzl. During the meeting, the parties signed a Memorandum of strategic cooperation and implementation of innovative public services in Ukraine between the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the financial institution.

Before signing the document, Mykhailo Fedorov said: “In Ukraine, fintech is developed at a level even higher than in many European countries. A prime example is PrivatBank with its experience in developing their unique nonstandard digital solutions. Today, we are signing this document to launch collaboration on a number of major projects within the digitalization concept.”

"We are ready to support with providing our technology and skilled professionals to launch public digital services as fast as possible", Peter Krumhanzl assured during the meeting.

The full launch of the SmartID technology is envisaged as part of the country's digitization strategy. This will allow to speed up the process and expand the scope of digital services for Ukrainian citizens. The procedure for obtaining a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) using SmartID technology will take less than a minute, and it can be done from any device connected to the Internet. PrivatBank clients will also be able to use this service through passport identification and Tax ID.

The second priority issue raised at the meeting was the launch in Ukraine of a digital driver's license and a digital student ID in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Science. A pilot introduction of a digital driver's license with a QR code is planned. An electronic student ID on a smartphone is more than a digital version of a "traditional" student’s plastic ID card. This is, in fact, a separate application for the student. The e-student's ID is filled based on the needs of the educational institution and its students. This is now an experiment, but with time it may be possible to transfer to student ID generation only in smartphone and the ability to minimize or completely opt out of printing a plastic ID.
