Brussels hosted a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Culture of the European Union. Rostyslav Karandieiev, acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, addressed the organizers and participants of the meeting with a welcoming speech.
Rostyslav Karandieiev thanked the Minister of Culture and Sport of Spain, Miquel Iceta, for the invitation and expressed his gratitude for the unquestioning support of Ukrainian culture, which is not only a significant factor in deterring russian aggression, but also an important element in the formation of the national spirit of resistance.
"Ukrainian culture and the entire Ukrainian society are mobilized to fight the aggressor. We are grateful to every government, every European country that helps Ukraine. This is a significant assistance. We hope for its continuation, as well as for the expansion of forms of cooperation, in particular with regard to our reconstruction after the war," Rostyslav Karandieiev called.
He also expressed hope for Ukraine's prompt accession to the European Union.
"I sincerely wish us victory in the struggle that our country is fighting today on the front line of the European continent. We will win. I have no doubt about it, as does the entire Ukrainian society. Every Ukrainian artist, every Ukrainian cultural figure dreams of a time when they will be free to live and work in the interests of our country and the whole world," summarized the acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
During a meeting of the EU Council of Ministers of Culture, Italy announced the launch of an initiative to restore Ukraine's cultural heritage damaged by russian aggression. Two Italian cultural foundations - the Triennale Milano and MAXXI Rome - have established the Laboratory for the Reconstruction of Ukraine. This center is aimed at cooperation between partner countries, financial organizations and cultural companies to help rebuild Ukraine through the implementation of innovative projects. Italy also called on the EU and the European Commission to support the inclusion of the reconstruction of Ukrainian cultural heritage in the Ukraine Facility.
