On November 27, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Werner Hoyer, President of the European Investment Bank, in Kyiv.

The event was also attended by Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko and EIB Vice-President Teresa Czerwińska.

Denys Shmyhal welcomed the inauguration of the EIB Regional Office for Eastern Europe in Kyiv.

The parties discussed current and new recovery projects. The Prime Minister noted that the Government was actively cooperating with the EIB in the areas of infrastructure, energy and heat supply.

"We are grateful for the financial assistance, in particular the creation of effective tools for post-war recovery. The EIB was one of the first international financial organizations to provide financial support to the state budget in March 2022. In total, the European Investment Bank has accumulated over EUR 7.5 billion for our country. We highly appreciate the EIB's active role in supporting Ukraine," said Denys Shmyhal.

He also expressed gratitude for the consistent work with communities and the implementation of municipal projects.

For his part, the EIB President emphasized that his team's visit to Ukraine was a sign of unwavering support.

"From the very beginning of the russian invasion, we have been working with the Ukrainian authorities to facilitate reconstruction projects, supporting the country's amazing resilience. With the opening of our EIB Regional Representative Office for Eastern Europe in Kyiv, we want to emphasize our renewed commitment: to accompany Ukraine as it moves forward on its European path. Ukraine is an integral part of the European family, and the EIB is a key part of the EU's long-term support," said Werner Hoyer.
