Frontline communities are to receive additional portable power generation equipment for heat and electricity. The Government has approved the allocation of UAH 2.56 billion for the purchase of equipment. The funds will be allocated from the State Budget reserve fund.

The purchase of high-power generators is planned, to be sent primarily to housing and communal services enterprises in frontline communities. In particular, the equipment will be delivered to Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Odesa regions. The equipment will also be transferred to settlements where there is already an urgent need for additional backup power sources, in particular to Kyiv.

The Restoration Agency conducted market consultations on the availability of the necessary equipment and received commercial offers. Purchases are planned to be made directly from manufacturers, in particular for equipment that is already available in European countries. The estimated delivery time is several weeks.

"russia continues its energy terror against Ukrainian cities. The strikes on critical infrastructure have one goal: to leave people without heat, light and basic living conditions in one of the harshest winters in recent years.

The resilience of life support systems is not only about recovery after shocks, but also about strengthening communities with alternative and decentralised solutions. This is where we are directing additional resources," emphasised Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine/Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Oleksii Kuleba.

The State Enterprise ‘Critical Infrastructure Recovery’, which is subordinate to the Restoration Agency, has been designated as the customer for portable heat and power generation equipment for the needs of local communities.
