Providing a European perspective will help deepen partnership between our countries, says Prime Minister at a meeting with Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia
The strengthening of trade and economic cooperation and the joint European integration path were the topics for discussion during a meeting in Kyiv between Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Kakhaber Kuchava.
Denys Shmyhal thanked Georgian Speaker for the visit and stressed on the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Georgia.
"I note the resumption of the positive dynamics of bilateral economic cooperation. The trade turnover between our countries increased by almost 30% in the first half of the year. I hope that the positive dynamics of our bilateral trade will continue and we will expand bipartite cooperation," said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
This, according to the Head of Government, should be supported by the holding of the Tenth Meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Tbilisi this year, as well as the meeting of experts within its Working Groups.
Among other things, Denys Shmyhal and Kakhaber Kuchava discussed common European integration and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, in particular within the framework of the Eastern Partnership initiative.
"I am convinced that providing a European perspective for Ukraine and Georgia will make a significant contribution to strengthening stability in our region, ramp up mutual resilience to challenges and threats, and will further deepen the partnership between our states," the PM said.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine also expressed hope that the agreements reached on mutual recognition of documents on vaccination from COVID-19 would contribute to the further growth of tourist flow between the countries. The Head of Government accentuated the importance of increasing the number of scheduled flights between the cities of Ukraine and Georgia.
