Today, July 1, 2022, the European Commission announced a decision to provide Ukraine with additional resources of financial support through an EU Macro-Financial Assistance for urgent budgetary needs in the amount of EUR 1 billion.

This decision of the European Commission has to be approved by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament.

"We welcome the European Commission's decision to launch a new EU Macro-Financial Assistance program of EUR 1 billion. In the conditions of war, such support is rather critical to ensure the stability of Ukraine's financial system. The announced size of the aid demonstrates the high level of Ukraine's strategic partnership with the EU", Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko said.

EU Macro-Financial Assistance will be aimed at maintaining financial stability in Ukraine.

In May and March 2022, Ukraine received two tranches of EUR 1.2bn within the framework of the 6th EU Macro-Financial Assistance. The total amount of EU Macro-Financial Assistance to Ukraine from 2014 to today is EUR 6.21 billion.
