During the Question Time for the Government at the Verkhovna Rada, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal spoke about the Government’s steps to increase pension benefits for Ukrainians.

Thus, the Head of Government noted that in March this year, the indexation had taken place for most Ukrainian retirees. Almost 8 million people were affected by the 11% increase in pensions.

"In April of this year, pensions were indexed for working pensioners, and they also received their increased payments. In addition, the minimum pension benefits are updated along with the increase in the subsistence level on July 1 and December 1 this year. Last year, the Government for the first time introduced a program of additional payments to pensioners aged over 80. Now each will receive an additional UAH 500 per month," the Prime Minister stressed.

The Head of Government also stressed that on October 1, for the first time, additional payments of UAH 400 for pensioners over 75 will be introduced.

The Prime Minister reminded that at a Government session on July 14 it was decided to increase pensions for the military.

"Additional payments of UAH 2,000 will be assigned to people in July. In total, such surcharges will affect almost 400,000 people. And this is a fair amount, given that payments to other retirees were indexed, while to military retirees they were not," said Denys Shmyhal.

Apart from that, the Prime Minister noted that the Government continues to work with the concerned committee of the Parliament to launch an accumulative pension system.
