Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal honored memory of defenders perished in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Together with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy the Head of Government laid flowers at the Wall of Remembrance for those fallen for our state.
A memorial service was also held at the memorial complex of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with the participation of the Prime Minister. Relatives of fallen soldiers, representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, ATO / JFO veterans, government officials, the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada and the President's Office joined the ceremony.
The names of 228 defenders of Ukraine who died on August 29, 2014-2020 were announced with a bell and salute from the weapon of the Honor Guard.
The participants laid flowers to the Memorial Bell and observed a minute of silence in memory of the defenders.
The President of Ukraine also presented state awards to the families of the fallen heroes.
