
Prime Minister paid tribute to the victims of the Babyn Yar
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal took part in ceremonial events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy.
A ceremony commemorating the victims of the tragedy took place in Kyiv at the National Historical Memorial Preserve Babyn Yar with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Israel Isaac Herzog and President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Among those participating in the event were Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Kakha Kuchava, Speaker of the Riksdag of Sweden Andreas Norlén, Marshal of the Senate of Poland Tomasz Grodzki and representatives of other foreign delegations.
"Babyn Yar is a place where the scale of the great tragedy during the Second World War is especially acute. Our objective remains to remember the tragic pages of national history, doing our utmost to honor the memory of the victims," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine together with the Head of State and honored guests got acquainted with the Mirror Field audiovisual installation and took part in the opening performance of the memorial object Crystal Wall of Crying.
The participants of the event also watched a light performance and visited the symbolic synagogue "A place for reflection".
