Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman vows that he will never betray national interests, whatever this concerns, and especially the land reform. The Head of Government said in an interview with Ukrinform agency.
"Ukraine possesses 36% of all the world's fertile black soil, and this is a sort of official reserve assets", Volodymyr Groysman said. "Can we have a free transfer of land ownership? Yes But the question is: who should be its owner? I have one answer - a Ukrainian citizen who engages in cultivation activities. I think this is normal. The ban on the sale of land to foreigners also applies in some European countries".
The Head of Government noted that he takes a stand against the sale of land to large companies and holdings - it does not correspond to the interests of the state. "Therefore there should be restrictions on the volume of land ownership. And giving land to five or ten companies is nonsense. I could never do that, and I declare it publicly to all international partners", Volodymyr Groysman - Meanwhile, I will always support the Ukrainian farmers".
The Prime Minister stressed the Government managed to create affordable financial mechanism for the farmers to purchase and cultivate land. He also added that during the 9 months of this year, the Government has allocated UAH 312 million to Ukrainian farmers for the purchase of agricultural machinery.
