On February 24, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an Action Plan for the implementation of the Open Government Initiative for 2021-2022. As Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted during the meeting, it is essential for the Government to systematically introduce instruments facilitating the Government's activities to be more open and clear.
According to the Head of Government, the plan will provide, in particular, for the settlement of issue of public property and its accounting through the development of appropriate electronic registers.
"The list of open data on the budget and its components will be expanded. In addition, it is planned to create a platform for patenting and innovation development. A single approach to the verification of beneficial owners will be introduced, thereby strengthening public control and financial monitoring," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister added that an initiative on an electronic system for submitting and analyzing reports in the extractive industries was planned to implement as well: "That is, it will be available to see who and how many minerals extracts, as well as how much he pays for such extraction activities."
According to Denys Shmyhal, the Open Government initiative envisages the involvement of public organizations and international partners in the development of the plan.
"I am confident that our joint activities in all these areas will help increase the openness of government and growing confidence in the state," the Head of Government emphasized.
