Denys Shmyhal thanked the rescuers and firefighters for their ongoing work in containing forest fires.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal together with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with State Emergency Service (SES) employees who were involved in extinguishing massive wildfires in the Chornobyl exclusion zone and unconditional (compulsory) evacuation zone. During the meeting, the President presented 22 rescuers with state awards.
In the ceremony were also participating Minister of the Interior Arsen Avakov, acting Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Olha Buslovets, heads of the SES and the State Agency on Exclusion Zone Management.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal thanked the employees of the State Emergency Service for their dedicated work and bravery in their daily activities.
“More than a thousand people are involved in the elimination of the fire. We thank you and all those who are standing side by side and doing this challenging job. Today, on the anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster, we convey the words of gratitude to all the liquidators. It is symbolic that on April 26 you received state awards from the President,” the Head of Government said.
The Government representatives, together with the President of Ukraine, visited the site near the villages of Nova Krasnytsia and Richytsa, where through their hard work the SES staff had managed to extinguish the fire.
