  • Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal approves a new strengthened plan to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Ukraine

    A meeting of the operational headquarters on the prevention of the spread of the COVID-19  coronavirus in Ukraine was held. Following the meeting, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal approved a new enhanced plan for anti-crisis preventive measures to fight the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus and instructed ministers and  leadership of central executive authorities to take a number of measures.

    Thus, the leadership of the line authorities will review the reserves of the state reserve for the provision of means of individual protection in view of the three-month need, and by March 11 to determine the amount of funds needed to replenish the state reserve.

    The Head of Government gave instructions to provide information about domestic producers of personnel protective equipment (PPE) and to find out whether they can meet the demand of the population and medical institutions for PPE. The Chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine must ensure implementation of the the law on economic competition and protect the rights of patients during retail trade in PPE.

    The Ministry of Health of Ukraine was commissioned to shape a communication plan to determine a blueprint of action in case of coronavirus  and bring it to the notice of local authorities and to work on the establishment of a network of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

    Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal also instructed to  check all inbound travelers arriving to Ukraine and also people arriving through checkpoints of entry and exit from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and Crimea. In addition, it is entrusted to carry out duty at the checkpoints of resuscitation and medical vehicles.

    The Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine are obliged  by March 11 to submit proposals designed to increase funding for the purchase by the Ministry of Health’s laboratory centers  of medical supplies, personal protective equipment and diagnostic materials, as well as coronavirus test systems.
