Over the past few weeks, the Government has allocated UAH 16.369 billion in subventions to regions for recovery and transformation projects. This amount will allow to achieve concrete results that will be felt by all Ukrainians this year. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 7 July.
“We have to start the recovery now. Without waiting for the end of the war,” the Head of Government stressed.
According to Denys Shmyhal, the priority has been given to the regions that suffered the most from russian crimes and destruction. In particular: Kyiv region received UAH 4.5 billion. Kharkiv region was allocated UAH 2.5 billion. Zhytomyr region received UAH 1.5 billion. Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions received UAH 1 billion each. Sumy region – UAH 837 million. Mykolaiv region – UAH 817 million. Poltava region – UAH 797 million. Dnipropetrovsk region – UAH 663 million. Kherson region – UAH 563 million.
“These are the top 10 regions that received the most funding. All of this money is earmarked for specific projects and tasks related to critical infrastructure, the social sphere, preparing for winter and restoring life in communities. But unfortunately, the use of these funds on the ground is too slow,” the Prime Minister said.
Denys Shmyhal said that a meeting had been held with the heads of the regional military administrations, during which the participants discussed problematic issues and identified what exactly was preventing the reconstruction projects from moving faster. The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development and the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development to prepare draft decisions for the next Government meeting to speed up the recovery process.
