Prime Minister: Government coordinates actions to restore power grid after massive russian attack
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported on the results of a conference call chaired by the President of Ukraine to tackle the situation in the energy sector after another massive russian attack.
During the meeting, operational information on the state of the power grid and the situation in the regions was heard, and further steps to eliminate the consequences of the shelling and restore infrastructure were coordinated.
“The enemy is deliberately targeting critical infrastructure. There have been many ballistic strikes. There is damage in a number of regions and in the capital,” Yulia Svyrydenko said.
A civilian was killed in Kyiv region as a result of the shelling. The Prime Minister expressed her sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
Due to the consequences of the strikes on Kyiv, there have been interruptions in water, heat, and electricity supply in some areas. More than 5,000 homes are currently without heat.
The situation remains difficult in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.
Emergency and repair services are working around the clock. All available reserves, including additional backup power generation capacity, are being used to provide services to the population during the restoration work. Resilience centers and State Emergency Service units are operating.
“The Government is using all available tools to support the people and minimize the consequences of the strikes,” the Head of Government emphasized.
