Developing the defence industry and maintaining macro-financial stability in the country – Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal outlined the Government’s main achievements at a press conference marking the fifth anniversary of its work.

“Over these five years, we have been fulfilling all our social obligations on time and in full. We found resources to balance the budget. Over five years, the budgetary financial support of our partners has amounted to more than USD 120 billion,” the Head of Government stressed.

According to Denys Shmyhal, the russian frozen funds are already working for Ukraine. “This is one of the biggest financial victories in the 3 years of war. Our goal is the complete confiscation of all frozen russian assets,” he stressed.

The Prime Minister also noted that over the past three years, Ukraine had built a new defence industry.

“The capability of the Ukrainian defence industry has grown 35 times in three years and will amount to USD 35 billion in 2025,” the Head of Government said, adding that Ukraine currently produces about a third of the required weapons and aims to reach the figure of 50%. In addition, according to Denys Shmyhal, work is underway to develop the “Danish model”, which involves directing financial resources from allies directly to the Ukrainian defence industry. In 2024, almost USD 1 billion was raised under this mechanism.

According to Denys Shmyhal in three years, the drone production infrastructure has been fully built and today Ukraine produces the world’s largest number of military drones of all types.

“Last year, more than 1 million drones were manufactured, and this year we plan to produce more than 2.5 million drones. More than 500 companies are working on this,” the Prime Minister said.

The Head of Government also stressed that Ukraine is now among the leaders in digitalisation.

“Five years ago, Diia was launched. Today, the application has 30 services and digital documents. The Diia portal provides access to 130+ public services for citizens and businesses,” the Prime Minister emphasised.
