Ukrainian students are the force that creates our history. It was so in the past, it is so now, and it will be so in the future. This was emphasised by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and heads of student self-government bodies of major universities.
“Hearing and understanding the younger generation is what we need right now. After all, young people will carry out the mission of post-war reconstruction and put the country on the path of growth. That is why changes and reforms in higher education are always timely,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister noted that the Government was implementing important reforms for students.
“These are state grants for education, which will partially or fully cover the cost of contractual education in any bachelor’s programme. This is an adjustment of the state order towards those professions that are needed now and will be needed in the near future. Rehabilitation therapists, psychologists, engineers, transport workers, specialists in military science,” the Head of Government noted.
In addition, there are individual educational trajectories for students and the modernisation of the network of higher education institutions. According to the Prime Minister, this should be based on the ability to provide quality educational services, strengthening the material and technical base and improving human resources.
Denys Shmyhal thanked the student community of Ukraine for their initiative, activity, for generating positive changes, for their significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian statehood. He wished the students energy, inspiration, and the realisation of their most ambitious plans, ideas and dreams.
