  • Representatives of the State Forest Resources Agency studied the experience of the National Forest Center of Slovakia

    The Ukrainian delegation which included representatives of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine visited the National Forest Center of Slovakia.  During the meeting with the leadership of the Center a wide range of issues related to the forest management was discussed.

    The Slovak side stressed that the National Forest Center was established to provide a modern national platform for integrating forestry research, planning, consulting, further education and forestry practices into a single unit capable of better responding to the challenges facing the forestry in the 21st century forestry. The staff of the National Forest Center works in four institutes.

    The parties discussed cooperation in scientific-research projects in the field of decision making support, production and forest management in the context of ensuring timber supply and efficient utilization of soil production potential. Moreover issues related to the climate change impacts on forests, protection of forests against pests and diseases were also touched upon.

    Apart from that, the sides considered the issue of Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine ENI Cross-border Cooperation Programme.

     The Ukrainian side visited the center within the framework of the Memorandum between the State Forest Resources Agency  of Ukraine and the State enterprise Forests of the Slovak Republic and the National Forest Center of Slovakia.
