The open data portal Data.gov.ua has resumed its work

Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, posted 01 August 2022 15:58

Before the russian invasion, Ukraine was one of the leaders in terms of the level of development of the open data sector. According to the Open Data Maturity ranking, last year Ukraine ranked sixth among all European countries in terms of data openness. According to various estimates, the economic impact of information disclosure amounted to about 1% of GDP and grew annually. But in order to protect the interests of the state, access to the portal had to be limited.

The resumption of operation of the portal is an indicator that Ukraine continues to follow the path ensuring transparency and accountability of the authorities. Open data has become one of the main tools of Ukrainians to fight corruption. And now they will become the foundation of the rapid reconstruction of our state.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation is also starting a public discussion of changes to legislation in this area. It aims to establish new rules for access to open data during martial law in Ukraine. And also to expand the list of open data sets by adding information that will be necessary to create a plan for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

One can familiarize with the draft of the act, as well as submit suggestions, until August 20 at the link https://bit.ly/3cKmDYh

Changes to the legislation were developed jointly with the Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO) with the support of the EU4DigitalUA project.
