Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko took part in the 6th German-Ukrainian Business Forum, which is taking place in Berlin.
The participants of the event were addressed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz and Vice Chancellor, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck.
In his speech, the German Federal Minister emphasized the special contribution of Ukrainian energy experts and Minister German Galushchenko to ensuring the stability of the energy system and its successful passing of the tests of russian attacks during the past winter.
The Energy Minister thanked Germany for the support provided to the Ukrainian energy sector in the form of energy equipment and financial contributions to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine.
"The support that Germany provides us was critical for getting through the last winter and will be important for the next winter. Thank you for your help. I am convinced that together we will not only survive this winter, but will also be able to strengthen the energy security of the European continent," said German Galushchenko.
The Minister emphasized that even in the midst of war, Ukraine continues to reform the energy sector. In particular, the law on prevention of manipulation in the wholesale energy market was adopted as an integral part of the obligations to implement the REMIT Regulation, the operator of Ukrainian gas storage facilities was certified in accordance with European rules, and legislation for the integration of the Ukrainian and European energy markets is being prepared.
German Galushchenko emphasized that the approved Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2050 provides for specific steps to transform the Ukrainian energy sector into a carbon-free one.
The Minister of Energy called on representatives of German businesses to take an active part in the restoration of the Ukrainian energy sector on the basis of a green transition. The areas of cooperation in the hydrogen industry, wind and solar energy are promising.
"The war not only hasn't stopped our green transition, on the contrary, it is accelerating it. In response to the russian terror against our energy sector, we will restore and improve our energy system by developing alternative energy, which is the best way to decentralize," he said.
