A year ago, the Ministry of Digital Transformation together with the Deposit Guarantee Fund launched the service Diia - Deposit Recovery. Since then, Ukrainians have received over UAH 43 million from bankrupt banks. In total, more than 2.6 thousand depositors have used the service.
“A year ago, together with the Deposit Guarantee Fund, we launched the Diia service, which allows you to receive compensation from bankrupt banks. Since then, Ukrainians have reclaimed over UAH 43 million. The online service significantly speeds up the process of receiving funds, as there is no need to visit banks and stand in queues. This is an example of how a digital state works - conveniently, quickly and in a few clicks. Therefore, we continue to improve and launch new services that simplify the interaction of people with the state,” said Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation.
The Diia Deposit Recovery service allows depositors of a failed bank to receive a refund to their current card or open a new ePidtrymka card at one of the DGF's agent banks.
“Since the beginning of the invasion, many Ukrainians either have found themselves in the area of active hostilities or have been forced to flee their homes in search of shelter. At that time, the DGF faced the task of not only guaranteeing the return of funds to depositors in the event of bankruptcy, but also making payments as quickly and conveniently as possible for people in the face of war. In April 2022, we launched a tool for remote online payments through the applications of agent banks, and in October 2023, we launched the Deposit Recovery service in the Diia app,” added Olha Bilai, acting Managing Director of the Deposit Guarantee Fund.
