Half a million Ukrainians benefitted from “Health Screening 40+”: Most common conditions and risks identified

Half a million Ukrainians have already taken part in the National “Health Screening 40+” program. For many, the examination provided an opportunity to detect diseases and health risks before any complaints or noticeable deterioration in well-being appeared.

As of August 2026, a total of 557,803 people across Ukraine have undergone the “Health Screening 40+.” Most participants reported no health complaints at the time of their visit. Yet the results revealed that a significant share already had risk factors or conditions they were previously unaware of.

Analysis of screening results shows:

• High cholesterol was detected in 71.8% of participants — one of the key risk factors for cardiovascular disease, which can remain unnoticed for years.

• More than 30,000 people learned for the first time through screening that they had cardiovascular disease.

• Nearly 73% of participants were found to have an elevated risk of type 2 diabetes. For almost 7,000 individuals, this diagnosis was made for the first time during the examination.

• High blood pressure was recorded in one in three participants. Without proper control, it significantly increases the risk of stroke, heart attack, and other cardiovascular complications.

Detection of elevated indicators or risk factors does not always mean a final diagnosis. However, it is an important signal for further examination, consultation with a doctor, and, if necessary, timely treatment.

The National “Health Screening 40+” program was created to enable people to check their health in advance, identify possible risks, and receive personalized recommendations for further action. The comprehensive examination is free of charge, can be completed in a convenient medical facility, and requires only one visit.

Currently, the service is available in more than 2,500 state, municipal, and private medical institutions across Ukraine. People can choose a facility regardless of their place of residence or registration.
