Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with Minister of Economy of the Republic of Slovakia Peter Dovhun in the framework of the Roadmaps to New Nuclear Conference organised by the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) in Paris.

Particular attention was paid to increasing the capacity for commercial electricity exchange between the two countries and modernising the Mukachevo-Veľké Kapušany transmission line.

The ministers also discussed cooperation in the oil and gas sector, including transit issues.

German Galushchenko emphasised that Ukraine had the largest underground gas storage facilities in Europe and offered its international partners to use them on favourable terms. The Minister of Energy noted that after the certification of Ukrtransgaz, the Ukrainian gas storage operator, in accordance with European rules, foreign traders were actively pumping natural gas into Ukrainian UGS facilities.

Peter Dovhun, in turn, noted Slovakia's interest in deepening cooperation with Ukraine in the nuclear sector and invited the Ukrainian side to join the initiative of Central European countries that involve universities and businesses in joint projects to develop and implement small modular reactor technologies.
