The increase of pensions in Ukraine is a legitimate norm of the changes to the pension system initiated by the Government, which have been introduced from the fall of 2017. That is why it is not a one-off action, but the process that has been enshrined in the law, and therefore, will not be canceled in line with the political trends. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said on air of the ICTV channel.
The Head of Government stressed that the increase in pensions from July 1, which mostly affected people who had a long experience, but small salaries, is not a one-time action.
"It's the fifth increase! Nothing is to be canceled", said Volodymyr Groysman. "This is a systemic measure."
Background
Since July 1, 2019, pensions have been increased for women who have 30 years of seniority and over, and for men who have 35 years of seniority and over but had a small wage during their employment period. In addition, starting July 1, pensions for 33 thousand military-liquidators will grow by UAH 2,000 – 5,000.
If the size of their pension amounted to UAH 3,800 – 5,500, it will be - UAH 5,800 – 10,500. Also, the pensions for 43,000 people who were disabled as a result of hostilities (anti-terror operation and united forces operation) will grow. If the size of their pension was UAH 3,500 – 4,400, it will make up UAH 5,600 – 10,100.
