The functioning of the gas transmission system and the gas balance were discussed at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal. The meeting was attended by Minister of Energy German Galushchenko, CEO of GTS Operator of Ukraine Dmytro Lyppa, CEO of Ukrtransgaz Roman Maliutin, and the management of Naftogaz and Ukrtransgaz.
One of the main topics discussed was the suspension of russian natural gas transit through Ukraine’s gas transmission system from 7:00 a.m. today.
In particular, the Energy Minister stressed that Ukraine had informed its international partners, including the European Commission, about the conclusion of the agreement on gas transit from russia in a timely manner and in accordance with the established procedure. According to him, European countries were prepared for this decision.
In turn, CEO of GTS Operator of Ukraine informed that the company had prepared its infrastructure in advance to operate without russian gas and to ensure reliable supplies to Ukrainian consumers.
“We also discussed the energy balance, the state of filling gas storage facilities and security issues. There are no details here. All operational orders have been handed out. Those responsible have been assigned,” said Denys Shmyhal.
First of all, the Prime Minister gave the task to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to household consumers.
