First 100 families received funds to rebuild housing on their land: Oleksii Kuleba
Under the eVidnovlennia state program, payments were made to the first 100 families that applied for compensation for the destruction of housing by rebuilding on their own land.
The total amount of funds transferred was UAH 152 million. The average payment per family is UAH 2.2 million. The majority of applications came from Kyiv, Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions.
The program is available to Ukrainians who have completely lost their homes and want to rebuild them on the plot where the property was destroyed or on recently purchased land.
"It is crucial for the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development to develop and expand compensation programes for destroyed or damaged housing. As of today, almost 87,000 families have received compensation for damaged housing to restore it. Meanwhile, more than 7,600 families have already purchased new homes with compensation for destroyed housing.
This week, for the first time, the Government transferred funds to those Ukrainians who chose to receive compensation for destroyed housing in the form of reconstruction on their own land. The first 100 families have already received their payments. Soon they will have an opportunity to start construction of their new homes," commented Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration, Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.
At the initiative of the Ministry for Restoration, Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, an additional UAH 15 billion was allocated for compensation for IDPs at the end of last year, and as of today, 2,000 families have already purchased new homes by selling housing certificates. This option is available to Ukrainians with IDP status who have lost their only property. The service is available for destroyed housing on government-controlled territory or in the area of active hostilities. An important condition is to have a valid IDP certificate.
The eVidnovlennia program and the Register of Damaged and Destroyed Property were implemented by the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine within the framework of the Digital Transformation Support Project with the assistance of USAID and UK Dev. The project partner is the East Europe Foundation.
