The report on the implementation of the Association Agreement for 2023 was handed over to the EU side within the framework of the 9th meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council, which took place today, 20 March, in Brussels.

Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, noted that Ukraine continued to work systematically to complete all the steps to join the EU. The implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement is an important tool on this path, as it allows Ukraine to achieve comprehensive economic and legal compatibility with the EU.

“Our goal is to deepen the integration of various sectors into the EU internal market in parallel with the EU accession negotiations. Specific proposals for integration in the digital, energy, economic and other areas have already been agreed with the EU side,” commented Olha Stefanishyna.

The report was prepared by the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The progress in fulfilling the obligations under the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in 2023 is 88%.

“Despite russia’s ongoing full-scale war against Ukraine, we continue to work consistently to deepen sectoral integration into the EU. Thus, the overall progress in the implementation of the Agreement in 2023 increased by 5%. In 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine fulfilled 86% of the tasks under the Agreement,” said Oleksandr Ilkov, Director General of the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.

The greatest progress – more than 90% – has been made in the following areas: intellectual property; statistics and information exchange; humanitarian policy; justice, freedom, security, human rights; education, training and youth; political dialogue, national security and defence.
