Day 698 of the russian full-scale military aggression against Ukraine has begun.

The russian federation continues to ignore the laws and customs of warfare, using the terror tactics, launching missile and air strikes, and firing multiple launch rocket systems not only at the military, but also at numerous civilian targets across Ukraine. 

During the day of January 21, there were 68x combat engagements. The enemy launched a total of 4 missile and 102 air strikes, 80 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians. Private residential and apartment buildings, other civilian infrastructure facilities were destroyed or damaged.

During the day of January 21, russian occupants launched yet another air strike, using 10 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. The Ukrainian Air Defense forces and means destroyed 8x attack UAVs. 

Air strikes hit Hrafske, Vovchansk, Mykolaivka, Vil’khuvatka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Tabaivka, Pishchane (Kharkiv oblast), Makiyivka, Serebryanske forestry (Luhansk oblast), Yampolivka, Hryhorivka, Minkivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Kostyantynivka, Toretsk, Pivnichne, New York, Lastochkyne, Avdiyivka, Staromaiorske, Rivnopil, Novomykhailivka, Kostyantynivka (Donetsk oblast), Chervonyi Mayak, Zmiivka, Novoberyslav, and Vesele (Kherson oblast).

More than 100 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv oblasts came under artillery fire.

Pivnich operational-strategic group, Volyn and Polissya axes: no significant changes.

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy troops conduct active subversive activities in order to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened axes. The adversary increases the density of minefields along the state border in Belgorod oblast (russia).

Khortytsia operational-strategic group, Kupyansk axis: Ukrainian defenders repelled 7 enemy attacks near Synkivka (Kharkiv oblast). 

Lyman axis: Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 attacks of the occupiers near Terny, Yampolivka (Donetsk oblast), and 6 more attacks near Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast).

Bakhmut axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 7 attacks of the adversary east of Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast).

Tavria operational-strategic group, Avdiyivka axis: the Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy who keeps trying to encircle Avdiyivka. The Ukrainian soldiers are standing their ground and inflicting major losses on the invaders. For instance, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 5 attacks of the occupiers in the vicinities of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiyivka, and 12 more attacks south of Sjeverne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast) during the day of January 21.

Maryinka axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the vicinities of Heorhiyivka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). The Ukrainian troops repelled 5 attacks in that area. 

Shakhtarske axis: the adversary did not conduct any offensive (assault) operations. 

Zaporizhzhia axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 7 enemy attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). 

Odesa operational-strategic group, Kherson axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to expand the bridgehead. Despite significant losses, the enemy does not abandon its attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions. During the day of January 21, the adversary attempted 6 unsuccessful assaults at the positions of the Ukrainian troops.

At the same time, the Ukrainian soldiers continue their active operations to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation troops, and exhaust the enemy all along the front line. 

During the day of January 21, the Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 9 concentrations of troops, weapons, and military equipment of the adversary. 

The Ukrainian missile troops hit 1 concentration of troops, 1 command post, 3 artillery systems, and 1 air defense system of the russian invaders.
