Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of 9:00 a.m. on June 17, in Ukraine there have been officially confirmed 33,234 COVID-19 cases, 943 patients died, 14,943 people recovered. During the 24 hours, 758 new cases have been confirmed.

A total of 517,995 samples in Ukraine were tested using PCR method and 97,935 samples using ELISA method.

In total 2,445 cases among children and 5,650 cases among healthcare workers were recorded. 23,844 patients have been undergoing outpatient treatment. A total of 9,390 people were hospitalized. There are 327 people having severe symptoms and undergoing treatment with the use of artificial lung ventilation machines.

As of June 17, coronavirus disease was registered:

  • Vinnytsia region – 1,500 cases (915 recovered);
  • Volyn region – 1,554 cases (490 recovered);
  • Dnipropetrovsk region – 1,012 cases (726 recovered);
  • Donetsk region - 338 cases (130 recovered);
  • Zhytomyr region – 1,147 cases (574 recovered);
  • Zakarpattia region – 1,808 cases (745 recovered);
  • Zaporizhia region – 538 cases (366 recovered);
  • Ivano-Frankivsk region – 1,849 cases (1,044 recovered);
  • Kirovohrad region - 592 cases (493 recovered);
  • Kyiv – 4,026 cases (1,230 recovered);
  • Kyiv region – 2,078 cases (867 recovered);
  • Lviv region – 3,227 cases (632 recovered);
  • Luhansk region - 66 cases (42 recovered);
  • Mykolaiv region - 323 cases (217 recovered);
  • Odesa region – 1,158 cases (426 recovered);
  • Poltava region - 281 cases (259 recovered);
  • Rivne region – 2,499 cases (1,379 recovered);
  • Sumy region - 230 cases (169 recovered);
  • Ternopil region – 1,510 cases (1,033 recovered);
  • Kharkiv region – 1,652 cases (774 recovered);
  • Kherson region – 183 cases (174 recovered);
  • Khmelnytsky region - 577 cases (435 recovered);
  • Chernivtsi region – 4,082 cases (1,328 recovered);
  • Cherkasy region - 564 cases (369 recovered);
  • Chernihiv region - 440 cases (107 recovered).

Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories. As of morning June 17, 2020, there have been received 1,136 suspicions of COVID-19 infection. Overall, from the start of the year, there have been received 74,653 suspicions.

The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine urges when having the first symptoms of respiratory illnesses to call a family doctor. Stay home! Self-isolation is the most efficient way to protect yourself from infection.
