Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of January 4, in Ukraine there have been officially confirmed 4,158 (170 children out of this number, 163 healthcare workers) new cases of COVID-19 infection. The number of active cases makes up 325,766.

During the last 24 hours, there have been hospitalized 1,526 persons, 73 patients died, 4,693 persons recovered. There have been conducted 13,128 testing (11,021 using the PCR method and 2,107 using the ELISA method).

During the entire pandemic in Ukraine:

  • 1,078,251 persons contracted COVID-19 infection;
  • 733,558 people recovered;
  • 18,927 people died;
  • 5,621,024 testing have been conducted.

Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories.

The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine urges when having the first symptoms of respiratory illnesses to call a family doctor. Stay home! Self-isolation is the most efficient way to protect yourself from infection.
