Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of January 21, in Ukraine there have been officially confirmed 5,583 (173 children out of this number, 229 healthcare workers) new cases of COVID-19 infection. The number of active cases makes up 241,392.

During the last 24 hours, there have been hospitalized 1,811 persons, 241 patients died, 13,981 persons recovered. There have been conducted 41,597 testing (24,504 using the PCR method and 17,093 using the ELISA method).

During the entire pandemic in Ukraine:

  • 1,177,621 persons contracted COVID-19 infection;
  • 914,730 people recovered;
  • 21,499 people died;
  • 6,034,418 testing have been conducted.

Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories.

The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine urges when having the first symptoms of respiratory illnesses to call a family doctor. Stay home! Self-isolation is the most efficient way to protect yourself from infection.
