  • Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

    According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of July 9, in Ukraine there have been officially confirmed 51,224 COVID-19 cases, 23,784 people recovered, 1,327 patients died. During the 24 hours, 810 new cases have been confirmed.

    The number of registered active cases as of July 9 is 26,113 people. The largest number of active patients per 100,000 population was registered in Chernivtsi (267.2), Lviv (219.7) and Zakarpattia (189.8) regions.

    Now 3,931 people are undergoing inpatient treatment. There are 85 people out of this number having severe symptoms and undergoing treatment with the use of artificial lung ventilation machines. A total of 13,655 people needed hospitalization, 424 patients needed to undergo mechanical ventilation treatment.

    In total 3,682 cases among children and 7,178 cases among healthcare workers were recorded. 37,559 patients have been undergoing outpatient treatment.

    A total of 760,247 samples in Ukraine were tested using PCR method and 315,874 samples using ELISA method. During the 24 hours, 13,938 samples were tested using PCR method.

    As of July 9, coronavirus disease was registered:

    • Vinnytsia region – 2,021 cases (1,443 recovered);
    • Volyn region – 2,875 cases (1,178 recovered);
    • Dnipropetrovsk region – 1,130 cases (1,002 recovered);
    • Donetsk region - 749 cases (233 recovered);
    • Zhytomyr region – 1,500 cases (1,078 recovered);
    • Zakarpattia region – 3,622 cases (1,117 recovered);
    • Zaporizhia region – 605 cases (468 recovered);
    • Ivano-Frankivsk region – 2,857 cases (1,213 recovered);
    • Kirovohrad region - 664 cases (570 recovered);
    • Kyiv – 5,872 cases (1,962 recovered);
    • Kyiv region – 2,895 cases (1,650 recovered);
    • Lviv region – 6,681 cases (990 recovered);
    • Luhansk region - 90 cases (70 recovered);
    • Mykolaiv region - 465 cases (346 recovered);
    • Odesa region – 2,052 cases (863 recovered);
    • Poltava region - 327 cases (281 recovered);
    • Rivne region – 4,380 cases (2,363 recovered);
    • Sumy region - 328 (271 recovered);
    • Ternopil region – 2,153 (1,343 recovered);
    • Kharkiv region – 2,521 (1,280 recovered);
    • Kherson region – 201 (184 recovered);
    • Khmelnytsky region - 865 (616 recovered);
    • Chernivtsi region – 5,074 (2,473 recovered);
    • Cherkasy region - 707 (552 recovered);
    • Chernihiv region - 585 (224 recovered).

    Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories.
