Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of January 5, in Ukraine there have been officially confirmed 5,334 (164 children out of this number, 362 healthcare workers) new cases of COVID-19 infection. The number of active cases makes up 317,048.

During the last 24 hours, there have been hospitalized 1,280 persons, 202 patients died, 13,850 persons recovered. There have been conducted 39,286 testing (24,154 using the PCR method and 15,132 using the ELISA method).

During the entire pandemic in Ukraine:

  • 1,083,585 persons contracted COVID-19 infection;
  • 747,408 people recovered;
  • 19,129 people died;
  • 5,645,178 testing have been conducted.

Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories.

The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine urges when having the first symptoms of respiratory illnesses to call a family doctor. Stay home! Self-isolation is the most efficient way to protect yourself from infection.
