During the Government meeting on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna reported on the state of implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and the progress of preparations for the renewal of the Association Agreement.
"We feel confident while holding consultations with the EU, as we can demonstrate Ukraine's firm progress in implementing the Association Agreement. That is why we demand reciprocity from the EU in recognizing our standards, legislation and institutions," commented Olha Stefanishyna.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that significant progress in the implementation of the Association Agreement is added as a result of the work of the Government on the adoption of bylaws in the field of European integration and cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the adoption of relevant laws.
"On a weekly basis, the Government adopts the acts envisaged in the Action Plan for the implementation of the Association Agreement. This, as well as the implementation of the legislation adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, has allowed to significantly increase the dynamics of the implementation of the Association Agreement and close the gap in the implementation of tasks even for 2014-2019. On average, we have improved the implementation of the Association Agreement by 20-30% in different years," the Deputy Prime Minister commented on Ukraine's progress in this area.
She added that Ukrainian business expects to expand access to EU markets by concluding an industrial visa-free agreement with the EU (ACAA Agreement) and removing technical barriers to trade. The request came from more than 50 associations, as well as more than 2,000 companies engaged in consultation with the Government throughout two months.
"At the Ukraine-EU Summit and the Association Council’s meeting, we will initiate appropriate decisions on the renewal of the Association Agreement and access to the markets of the European Union," said Olha Stefanishyna.
