  • Oleksiy Lyubchenko: Ukraine is interested in fast deepening of trade and economic cooperation with the UAE

    Prospects for attracting investments, resumption of work of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Emirati Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and prospects of trade liberalization are the main topics discussed during the online meeting of the First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksiy Lyubchenko with Thani Ahmed Alzeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates, on July 27, 2021.

    "Ukraine is interested in attracting foreign investment. So far, a number of legislative initiatives have been approved aimed to improve the investment climate. In particular, laws on state support of projects involving large foreign investments over EUR 20 million, the introduction of industrial parks, public-private partnership. We have a wide range of areas that may be of interest to business. And when we talk about investments, we mean not only funds but also innovations, technologies and human capital," Oleksiy Lyubchenko said during the meeting.

    In general, the Ukrainian side considers IT, agriculture, industry, energy industry and energy efficiency, as well as continuing cooperation in the fields of tourism and space to be the most promising areas for bilateral cooperation.

    For his part, His Excellency Thani bin Ahmed Al Zayudi expressed great interest in Ukraine's investment policy and asked to provide the Emirati side with comprehensive information on government investment support programs: "We are ready to start working in all areas. We are waiting for detailed information and express readiness to start developing a clear program to deepen our relations in economic matters."

    Apart from that, during the meeting, the parties discussed Ukraine's participation in the World Exhibition Expo 2020, which will begin its work in the fall in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. Oleksiy Lyubchenko thanked for the assistance in organizing the pavilion of Ukraine and invited to celebrate the National Day of Ukraine, which is scheduled for October 4, 2021, and will take place with the participation of the leadership of our state.

    "I hope that Ukraine's participation in Expo 2020 will allow not only to exchange cultural values but also to become a reliable platform for comprehensive deepening of relations between our countries," the First Deputy Prime Minister concluded.
