"Iran announced that Ukrainian passenger jet was shot down. This is an important step in the ongoing investigation process. Our experts continue to work on the site of the tragedy in order to investigate the causes thoroughly and to finally determine the truth," Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk stated.
According to the PM, Ukrainian experts continue to study material evidence from the crash site and together with the Civil Aviation Organization of Islamic Republic of Iran have already inspected the aircraft’s black boxes and some fragments of the plane near the site.
Marking of the aircraft fragments was also carried out in order to ascertain the completeness of the Boeing-737-800 parts found.
DNA samples were collected from relatives of those killed in the plane crash. This morning, an electronic DNA formula was sent to Ukrainian experts working at the site of the tragedy in Tehran.
"We are working on completing the identification and repatriation of the bodies of the dead citizens of Ukraine as soon as possible. The pain of the tragedy will not fade away. We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Ukraine will do everything to uncover all the details of the tragedy and to provide support the families of the fallen," the Head of Government emphasized.
