Oleksiy Reznikov met with U.S. Congress delegation

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov met in Kyiv with a delegation of members of the U.S. House of Representatives led by Chairman of the U.S. Helsinki Commission Addison "Joe" Wilson.

The delegation also included Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Ukraine Bridget Brink, Democratic Representative to the U.S. Helsinki Commission Steve Cohen, Republican Representative to the Helsinki Commission Victoria Spartz, and U.S. Permanent Representative to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe Michael Carpenter.

Oleksii Reznikov noted the importance of support for Ukraine from the US Congress, the US Government and the American people, and thanked them for understanding the need to strengthen assistance to our country in order to achieve victory over the Russian aggressor.

The interlocutors touched upon the issues of the system of accounting and transparency of military assistance. The American delegation was given a briefing on the system of monitoring the supply and movement of weapons and logistical assistance provided to Ukraine by western countries.

The event was also attended by First Deputy Minister of Defence Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavliuk, Deputy Minister for European Integration Andriy Shevchenko, as well as heads of the Defence Ministry's Office for Support of Change and the Public Anti-Corruption Council.

Yulia Marushevska and Yevhen Hrusovets spoke about the main tasks of the newly established advisory bodies, including, in particular, providing high-quality expertise for further fundamental changes in the system of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

"During the war, we must continue reforms, because we are confident that we will win this war together. But after the victory, we must also restore and rebuild our country. That is why we will need the U.S. assistance again. But then you will no longer be supporting a former Soviet country, but a completely new state - the heart of Europe. The newly established Office for Support of Changes and the Civil Society Anti-Corruption Council are helping us in the reform process. Teams of the best experts and professionals provide comprehensive support to the agency and the Armed Forces, helping the state to build the right directions of development," said Oleksiy Reznikov.

The Congress representatives assured of their continued support for Ukraine and praised our country's efforts to introduce maximum transparency in the use of security assistance. Addison "Joe" Wilson stressed that the United States would continue to support Ukraine in its fight for independence and territorial integrity and stand firmly by its side until victory.

The American delegates also shared their impressions of visiting the cities of Kyiv region destroyed by russian troops, the scale of war crimes, atrocities and destruction committed by the russian occupiers.

"What I saw in Bucha was really shocking. russia has committed crimes against humanity, so our goal is to support Ukraine, your defenders and stand with your people until they win their fight for freedom," said Addison "Joe" Wilson.
