The heating season is underway in Ukraine – to date, nearly 50% of the population and 70% of social infrastructure facilities connected to centralised heating have already received heat. This was reported by the Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba following the meeting of the Anti-Crisis Energy Headquarters.

The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

Local self-government bodies, regional military administrations, and specialised communal services are working in close coordination with the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development to ensure a stable passage through this heating season even amid the constant threat of attacks.

“We are considering various scenarios to ensure effective operational response. Our focus is on the availability of reserves, fuel stocks, and the uninterrupted operation of Points of Invincibility. Particular attention is being paid to the physical protection of energy facilities. The work continues daily,” noted Oleksii Kuleba.

Among the key areas of work is the connection of distributed thermal generation, including cogeneration units and block-modular boiler houses. Such heat sources enable communities to maintain energy stability even during massive shelling.

To date, 1.8 GW of distributed generation is already in operation, and the build-up of capacity continues.

“Despite the enemy’s systematic strikes on energy infrastructure and attempts to disrupt the heating season, we are working shoulder to shoulder with communities, regions, specialised ministries, and services to get through this winter confidently and stably,” emphasised the Deputy Prime Minister.
