Oleksii Kuleba meets with associations of local self-government bodies
Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, and Oleksii Riabykin, Deputy Minister, met with representatives of the All-Ukrainian Association of Communities, All-Ukrainian Association of Local Self-Governments, Ukrainian Association of District and Regional Councils, and Association of Ukrainian Cities.
Oleksii Kuleba spoke about the main directions of the Ministry’s work in the near future and stressed the importance of building a direct dialogue and effective cooperation with each head of the territorial community.
“Together we must focus our efforts on developing cohesion projects within the country. After all, frontline communities need support and assistance from those communities that are located in safer areas and have economic growth more than ever. Only side by side can we resist the enemy,” said Oleksii Kuleba.
During the discussion of the budget for the next year, Oleksii Kuleba noted that the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development adheres to the position that 64% of the personal income tax should be retained in the communities as an important step to support local self-government.
At the same time, Deputy Minister Oleksii Riabykin said that work was underway to involve all communities in cooperation with the State Fund of Regional Development as much as possible.
The parties also discussed the importance of preserving the achievements of the decentralisation reform and its further development, as well as the common heating season, housing policy and the general situation in the regions.
Oleksii Kuleba suggested that representatives of local government associations make such meetings regular – to meet once a month and discuss issues that need to be monitored, as well as monitor the dynamics of joint work.
