Oleksii Kuleba in Dnipropetrovsk region: Working on solutions to increase electricity volumes in the region
The Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Oleksii Kuleba, made a working visit to Dnipropetrovsk region.
During the visit, meetings were held with the participation of Deputy Minister Oleksii Riabykin, heads of local communities in the region, members of parliament, teams from the Dnipropetrovsk Region Military Administration and the region council. Deputy ministers from all ministries joined online. Key topics of discussion included the situation in communities, getting through the heating season, organising transport and logistics amid ongoing security threats, and the region’s energy supply.
Dnipropetrovsk region is a strategic industrial region of Ukraine. The stable operation of its enterprises affects the national economy, employment for thousands of people, and the continuity of the logistics. That is why the issue of the region’s energy resilience is of national importance.
“Together with the Ministry of Energy, we are working on solutions to increase the available volumes of electricity for the region and to balance the load on the networks. The aim is to ensure more predictable operation of industry, communal infrastructure, and social facilities, taking into account the actual load in this frontline region,” said Oleksii Kuleba.
Particular attention was paid to getting through the heating season. Despite constant attacks on energy infrastructure, heat supply in communities is ensured, including in Kryvyi Rih. At the same time, communities are strengthening their own energy capacity – the development of cogeneration is already yielding practical results. During the visit, one such facility was inspected: a single cogeneration unit provides heating to more than 4,000 residents and reduces the load on the electricity grids.
Another area of work is the physical protection of critical infrastructure facilities. Together with the head of the Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development, Serhii Sukhomlyn, ongoing works in the region’s communities were reviewed – these continue even amid constant air alerts and shelling, with the pace of implementation being stepped up.
Dnipropetrovsk region also remains one of the key transit regions for internally displaced persons. The Ministry’s focus is on supporting frontline territories for accommodating IDPs and preparing social housing projects in cooperation with communities.
Following the visit, the parties agreed on further coordination of actions and joint work on solutions to strengthen the region’s resilience amid the war.
