  • Olexandr Tkachenko discussed cooperation with the Minister of Canadian Heritage

    On January 15, 2021, the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko and the Minister of Canadian Heritage Steven Guilbeault had a virtual meeting.

    "Canada and Ukraine have a lot in common. Suffice it to say that the vast majority of experts in business and public administration consider Canada a model for the development of our country," said Olexandr Tkachenko on the outcomes of the meeting.

    The parties discussed cooperation, in particular, in the framework of the Agreement on the joint production of audiovisual works, and agreed to hold a series of webinars in the near future between producers and film agencies in Canada and Ukraine.

    Among other potential areas of cooperation are as follows:

    • Major Restoration and possible participation of Canadian experts and restorers in this project;
    • Development of a Ukrainian version of audio guides for tours of Canadian national museums;
    • Involvement of Ukrainian experts in the digitalization of Ukrainian-Canadian archives;
    • Continuation of the exchange of cultural events between Ukraine and Canada.

    The parties also discussed the inclusion of the Chornobyl zone in the UNESCO World Heritage List, the commemoration of the Holodomor victims and the anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy.
