  • Oleksandr Kubrakov: Bridge over the Irpin River opened to traffic

The bridge over the Irpin River has been opened to traffic. This was announced by Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.

Construction of the new 115-metre bridge over the Irpin River began almost immediately after the liberation of Kyiv region. At the same time, temporary crossings were built in less than a week to provide the residents of Bucha, Irpin, Hostomel and Vorzel with fast transport links to the capital.

“The bridge has two lanes in each direction. The width is 18 metres. The height is 6 metres. It is illuminated, equipped with all the necessary engineering structures for safe movement, including bicycle and pedestrian pathways on each side – almost 2 metres wide. The bridge is already open to all types of traffic,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov.

He also noted that the remains of the blown-up bridge would be preserved. Work is already underway to create a memorial complex there to commemorate the liberation of Irpin and the defence of Kyiv.
