Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine - Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov spoke about the damage caused by russia to Ukraine's critical infrastructure, projects to restore export logistics chains and opportunities for international participation in the reconstruction process.
"Daily barbaric russian attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure require immediate action from the world. We understand that russians respond to their own defeats on the battlefield with terrorism. Ukraine, on the other hand, improves its air defense, works on passive protection of energy infrastructure, takes measures to overcome the challenges of the winter period. But in these circumstances, systematic external support and joint counteraction to the threat posed by the russian federation is critically important.
In particular, it affects the global economy. The destruction of the usual logistics chains of Ukrainian exports due to the russian military aggression is already leading to food shortages and threatens millions of people in Africa and Asia with starvation.
Cooperation with organizations such as GLOBSEC allows for a comprehensive approach to recovery and economic security. I am grateful to GLOBSEC President Róbert Vass and representatives of the organization for their support and willingness to promote Ukraine's recovery projects in the international arena," commented Oleksandr Kubrakov.
The focus of the meeting was on joint communication of key tasks facing the partners to overcome the crisis. In particular, on projects of international support in the development of alternative logistics routes for Ukrainian agricultural exports, in particular through the ports of the Danube cluster and the acceleration of trade turnover through border crossings with the European Union.
The parties also discussed the introduction of joint border and customs control with neighboring countries. The Minister reminded that Ukraine had already started such negotiations with the Republic of Poland and was currently negotiating the joint text of the relevant Agreement, which would be submitted to the European Commission.
Besides, the participants considered the possibilities of enhancing the Grain Initiative and artificial delay of inspections of ships in the Bosporus. The queue is more than 90 vessels.
