One of the priorities in the work of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada and the Government is to improve the investment climate in the country. Undoubtedly, this is a complex issue and in modern realities requires activities in a number of areas. This was stated during the International Defense Investment Forum of Ukraine by the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleg Uruskyi.

"For rather long, investors in Ukraine have been concerned, in fact, with traditional risks - political instability, inflation, protection of foreign investors by the state, the complexity of permitting procedures, and so on. However, the authorities have an understanding of the existing problems and the need to take all measures aimed at improving the current investment climate in the country," Oleg Uruskyi stressed.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that Ukraine follows by examples of other countries, so to protect foreign investment, at the initiative of the Ministry of Strategic Industries, the Law of Ukraine "On Defense Procurement" was adopted aimed to remove excessive secrecy in the defense industry, ensure procurement of defense products through transparent mechanisms, including for foreign investors. The Law of Ukraine "On the Peculiarities of Reforming the Enterprises of the State-Owned Defense and Industrial Complex” recently adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will facilitate holding corporatization as well as attract investments in the defense industry.

The Ministry of Strategic Industries has developed a "Strategy for the Development of the Defense Industry of Ukraine", designed up to 2030. The document sets out the priorities and goals for the development of the defense industry, taking into account current threats. This is a guide for public and private enterprises, as well as for potential investors interested in investing in the manufacturing of products being of interest to the state.

Thus, the main priorities are as follows: technical re-equipment of the research and production base and modernization of enterprises, introduction of the latest technologies, creation of modern production facilities. Meanwhile, given the nature of modern wars and conflicts, the main directions in the development and production of domestic weapons have become: automated control systems; rocket and space technology; high-precision means of destruction, ammunition and products of special chemicals; means of radio electronic warfare; unmanned platforms and shock robotics; equipment of the "soldier of the future", specified Oleg Uruskyi.

It should be noted on August 12, Kyiv hosts the International Defense Investment Forum, dedicated to the search for new directions for the development of Ukraine's defense industry. The Forum is held on the site of the X Festival of Innovative Projects "Sikorsky Challenge 2021: Ukraine and the World", devoted to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence in pursuance of the Decree of the President of Ukraine.

The organizer of the International Defense Investment Forum is the Ministry for Strategic Industries of Ukraine.

The Forum gathered together representatives of state authorities of Ukraine, diplomatic corps, Ukrainian and foreign investors from more than twenty countries, innovation clusters of cities/regions, members of international offices of the innovation ecosystem "Sikorsky Challenge Ukraine", heads of enterprises in the defense industry.
