On November 26-27, 2018, the Ukrainian delegation headed by First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Maxim Nefyodov took part in the Ukrainian-German intergovernmental negotiations on development cooperation. The delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Ministry for the Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, and the Ukreximbank.
First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade thanked the Government of Germany for long-term support. It should be noted that Germany is one of the largest donors of international aid to Ukraine, the amount of which has exceeded €600 million since 2002.
Dr. Maria Flachsbarth, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development assured Ukraine of continued support.
According to the results of the meetings, the delegations of both countries agreed on the continuation of cooperation on such priority areas as democracy, civil society, public administration and decentralization, energy efficiency, sustainable economic development, overcoming the crisis in the east of Ukraine as a result of Russian military aggression.
The German side confirmed allocation of €84.8 million for Ukraine, of which€ 63.6 million for financial projects (loans) and €EUR 21.2 million for technical cooperation projects (grants).
