The next year should become a year of new opportunities and strengthening of the positive trends that Ukraine’s economy sees 10 quarters in a row. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced this during the Regional Development Council, which gathered representatives of local authorities from across the country.
"Today, all sectors of the national economy have a growt potential. We are on the right lines. But it is necessary to complete the implementation of reforms. We need to ensure strong economic growth and build a friendly investment environment," Volodymyr Groysman said.
He added that most of the transformations being held are fundamental, however they require time and are complicated because of the need to pay debts and overcome the challenges of populism.
"What is needed now? We need to continue bringing changes. 2019 is a year of opportunity. The first results of the medicine, education reforms will be felt exactly in 2019, new roads will be built as well as social standards will be raised. We are opening up opportunities for increasing gas production - for the sake of energy independence. We need not only to put in place reforms, but also to protect them. The whole positive thing is not the achievement of a separate policy, each one of you makes a contribution every day," the Prime Minister claimed.
In this context, the Head of Government stressed the importance of timely adoption of the draft State Budget for 2019, which encapsulates the possibility of continuing social reforms, automatic pension reform, and subsidies.
"Now all the politicians who criticize the changes are afraid of one thing – what if the Government will accomplish an objective? If we will achieve success, then the voices of populists will be silenced. And we already have something to be proud of. We work for the good of Ukraine which will become independent and economically strong country, " the Prime Minister underscored.
