During the meeting, the participants discussed joint projects in the healthcare sector implemented through the fruitful cooperation of the Ministry of Health with USAID and promising areas to be developed in the future.
Viktor Liashko expressed his gratitude to USAID for the support provided by USAID to Ukraine for many years in a row, as well as for the enhanced assistance since the beginning of the full-scale war.
"Our cooperation with USAID has been going on for decades, and we appreciate the support provided by the government and people of the United States of America. We are grateful for the flexibility in responding to the urgent requests and needs of our country. Thanks to the effectively established cooperation, we are capable of implementing a large number of successful projects aimed at both the strategic development of the Ukrainian healthcare system and increasing its resilience in the face of the constant need to respond to the challenges of war. These include continuing the process of reforming the healthcare system and building a capable network of healthcare facilities across Ukraine, revising the regulatory policy in the field of medicines circulation, transparent procurement, combating HIV and tuberculosis, developing the public healthcare system, and digitalization," stressed the Healthcare Minister of Ukraine.
In addition, attention was paid to new USAID projects, including the Rehab4U project aimed at developing the healthcare rehabilitation system in Ukraine. Viktor Liashko also stressed the importance of launching a new project to further reform the healthcare system and another project in the field of mental health.
